We have developed a language base for exploring the big ideas of our curriculum. Its purpose is to help our students use musical terminology to critique each others work, and discuss what they can see and hear in any performance. The language links specifically to the wider practices of our curriculum, which give them a greater sense of depth and purpose within the overall design and delivery of the curriculum.
To support this, we use the below language posters to scaffold the discussion as required. The language is linked to one of three forms of knowing, which we think are most typically encountered in the music education space.
